Daniil Medvedev v Mattia Bellucci Head to Head
Medvedev and Bellucci have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Medvedev Made to Work by Wawrinka
Daniil Medvedev has now been on court three times this year for a competitive match.
And all of those three times he has been made to work really hard, winning two and losing one of those matches.
His previous appearance came at the Australian Open where Medvedev required five sets to get past the unheralded Thai player Kasidit Samrej and then lost to Learner Tien in the second round.
And here, in the first round, Medvedev lost the opening tie-breaker to Stan Wawrinka before making a comeback and winning in three.
Medvedev did get better as the match wore on and Wawrinka’s age began to show but he might not get these many chances against some of the other bigger ticket players.

Bellucci Eases Past Rottgering
Mattia Bellucci avoided a potential banana peel in the first round after he eased past the Dutch wildcard Mees Rottgering easily to make it to the round of 16.
Having made it to the main draw with straight-set wins over Dutchmen Thijs Boogaard and Gijs Brouwer, Bellucci registered a 6-3, 6-2 victory against another home player in the form of Rottgering.
In a match that lasted an hour and 43 minutes, Bellucci slapped 10 aces and won 79% of his first serve points while also breaking his opponent four times in the encounter.
This follows a first round win over Lucas Pouille at the Montpellier Open for Bellucci which was his first main draw victory of the year for him.
Can he put up a fight against the Russian?
Medvedev v Bellucci Prediction
While Medvedev’s form has been scratchy we think it could be a matter of spending some more time on the court. He would be the obvious favourite and while Bellucci has done well in the tournament so far, we could see a straight-set win for a change for Medvedev this year.
Medvedev v Bellucci Tips
- Medvedev to win in straight sets: 3/4
