Ons Jabeur v Sofia Kenin Head to Head
This is some rivalry which goes all the way back to 2016 and the ITF circuit on which they have faced off twice too. Overall it’s 6-2 in favour of Kenin, having last played in Rome last year and won that match.
In hardcourt competitions, it’s 3-1 in favour of Kenin.
Jabeur Shocks Qinwen
While Qinwen Zheng hasn’t quite got her season going, not too many expected Ons Jabeur to race to a second round win against her Chinese opponent in the manner that she did.
A 7/5 underdog entering the match, Jabeur completed a 6-4, 6-2 rout of Zheng to enter the third round of this competition for the fourth time in her last five outings here.
Jabeur was on court for an hour and a half and got the better of her opponent’s serve on six occasions – three in each set – to seal her fate.
Having earlier beaten McCartney Kessler in the first round and with an 8-4 win-loss record for the season before the start of the tournament, Jabeur has now given herself a solid chance to go as deep as the semifinal given the manner in which she has started here.

Kenin Edges Past Another American
After having defeated the in-form Ashlyn Krueger in the first round, Sofia Kenin found a way past another American in the form of Alycia Parks to make it to the third round for the first time in her career,
Kenin defeated Parks 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-2 in a match lasting two hours and 17 minutes as she overturned the control that her opponent looked like exerting on her in the first two sets.
Parks proved to be a sticky customer as she broke right back after dropping serve to Kenin on three occasions in the first set. While Kenin won it in a tie-breaker it was followed by Parks getting the better of Kenin’s serve on four occasions.
In the decider, however, Kenin took control, holding her serve throughout while break her opponent twice.
Can she up the ante now in round three?
