Belinda Bencic v Aoi Ito Head to Head
Bencic and Ito have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Abu Dhabi Title Pushes Bencic to 65th
When Belinda Bencic began the 2025 season, she was ranked 489th. Less than two months into the season, the Swiss player has climbed up to 65th in the world and that has been thanks to her brilliant comeback to the game.
It started at the United Cup and Brisbane International where she won and lost one match apiece but gained real momentum when Bencic went up to the fourth round at the Australian Open.
And then in her fourth tournament of the year, Bencic carved out a stunning title victory at the Abu Dhabi Open with wins over Marketa Vondrousova, Elena Rybakina and Veronika Kudermetova in the process.
Bencic hadn’t featured in Doha last week but returns to play in this Dubai tournament and starts off with an opener against a qualifier.

Ito Waiting on First Main Draw Win for 2025
Aoi Ito had made her WTA debut only last year at a home tournament having entered the tournament ranked 188th in the world at that stage.
Today, about four months on, the Japanese player has improved to 120th and has made it through the qualifiers of yet another event to make the main draw.
Ito did that last week in Doha too but lost to the eventual finalist Jelena Ostapenko in the first round.
This time around, Ito has defeated Taylor Townsend and Ashlyn Krueger in the qualifiers and in straight sets at that but the question is if she can win her first ever main draw match at this level for the season.
The probable and unfortunate answer against Bencic is no.
Bencic v Ito Prediction
Bencic is in such red-hot form that it’s going to be difficult to call any match against her. This one should be quite straightforward in favour of Bencic.
Bencic v Ito Tips
- Bencic to win in straight sets: 2/5
