Carballes Baena Back on Hardcourt after Poor South American Swing
Roberto Carballes Baena has been known to deliver the goods on clay over the years but in more recent times he has begun to improve his showings in hardcourt competitions as well.
The trouble for him was that after having making the quarterfinals at the Auckland Open and then reaching the third round of the Australian Open, Carballes Baena went absolutely flat.
An opening round defeat in Dallas was followed by his shift to the clay courts of Argentina Open and Rio Open and at both those competitions he suffered straight-set defeats at the hands of Dusan Lajovic and Mariano Navone.
