Anna Kalinskaya v Alycia Parks Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two and Kalinskaya leads Parks 2-0. Both came in 2023, in Indian Wells and in the Midland Open.
Kalinskaya Losing Ground Rapidly
Ranked 14th at the start of the season, Anna Kalinskaya has had a wretched start to the season. So much so that we are in just the third month of the year and her ranking has tumbled down to 33rd at the moment.
Kalinskaya’s lack of results have been driven by her woeful fitness this year, the kind of fitness which makes you question whether she will finish the match unscathed or not.
This has been on display during or before multiple tournaments already with Kalinskaya retiring from her opener at the Adelaide International and then opting to make an 11th-hour withdrawal from the Australian Open as well.
She came back to make the semifinals in Singapore but has then lost three successive matches including twice in the first round – at Doha and in Dubai.
Can Kalinskaya arrest the slide here where her best performance came in 2021 when she made the fourth round?

Parks Hoping a Repeat of Auckland Showing
Alycia Parks kick-started the season with a semifinal appearance at the Auckland Open which included a victory over Amanda Anisimova but she hasn’t quite found her mojo after that.
It started with a first qualifying round at the Australian Open before Parks lost in the first round at the Singapore Open and Cluj-Napoca Open.
She then qualified for the main draw in Doha where she shocked Diana Shnaider in her opener. Sofia Kenin ended her campaign there in the second round.
Victories over Polina Kudermetova and Bernarda Pera earned her another first round appearance in Dubai where she overcame Xinyu Wang. Sorana Cirstea got the better of her in the next match.
Kalinskaya v Parks Predictions
On paper, when fully fit, Kalinskaya still should be the favourite but there’re enough signs to suggest we could see a bit of a struggle for her. Backing Parks to win a set here at the very least.
