Hailey Baptiste v Whitney Osuigwe Head to Head
Baptiste and Osuigwe will be facing off for the first time.
Baptiste Hoping to Emulate Last Indian Wells
Hailey Baptiste had defeated Clara Tauson in the previous edition of the Indian Wells Open on her way to the second round and she will now be looking to emulate that showing when she takes to court for her opener here.
The world number 100 made it through the qualifiers, overcoming Ena Shibahara and Leolia Jeanjean to enter the main draw and will now be gunning for her first win of the season since the end of January.
After having begun the year with a quarterfinal appearance at the Auckland Open and then having made the second round in Singapore, Baptiste hasn’t done too much of note.
She lost to Kimberly Birrell in the second round there and then lost in the qualifiers in both, Abu Dhabi and Doha.

Osuigwe Hoping to Take Lower Circuit Form into This Tournament
Once ranked 105th in the world, Whitney Osuigwe had fallen to 398th in the world by the end of the 2023 season. She clawed back last year to end it on 259th and has climbed up 31 places this year thanks to her performances on the ITF circuit.
This includes a title win on clay and a second final in three weeks – in which she lost to end her nine-match winning streak. More recently, Osuigwe has made it to successive quarterfinals on the ITF circuit.
Osuigwe then shocked Nuria Parrizas Diaz and Kaja Juvan to enter the main draw of this competition where she will be making her debut against a fellow American.
Can she now clinch her first ever win on the tour level for the season?
Baptiste v Osuigwe Predictions
