David Goffin v Lorenzo Sonego Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two with one of them having come in the qualifier of the Monte-Carlo Masters last year and the other two at the 2021 Montpellier Open and 2024 Winston-Salem Open.
Sonego leads 2-1, having won both those matches in 2024.
Goffin Struggles Look to Have Ended in Mexico
Coming into the Mexican Open last week, David Goffin was on a five-match losing streak. He went over to the Ultimate Tennis Showdown to feature in a few matches there and while he won just one of those three, it looked to have done him a world of good.
Goffin then participated at the Mexican Open where here defeated Rinky Hijikata for the first win of the season. What followed after that was even more stunning.
Having come into his second round encounter against Ben Shelton as a 5/2 underdog, Goffin carved out a fine, straight-set win to possibly turn his season around.
While the Belgian did not last too long after that, falling to Brandon Nakashima in the quarterfinals, we could probably see a different version of Goffin coming up in Indian Wells.

Sonego Solid But Coming off Opening Dubai Loss
Lorenzo Sonego has climbed up the rankings charts this season and that has been thanks to his brilliant showing at the Australian Open where he made the quarterfinal. It was his first ever appearance at a Grand Slam quarterfinal and would have given him a lot of confidence.
The Italian, who has never gone past the second round at the Indian Wells Masters in any of his previous appearances, hasn’t been able to match up to that performance though.
He lost in the first round at the Rotterdam Open and also went down in his opener in Dubai. And sandwiching those two losses was a quarterfinal appearance at Marseille with one of his opponent withdrawing from the competition.
What’s to be quickly added here is that Sonego’s defeats have come at the hands of the likes of Holger Rune, Ugo Humbert and Stefanos Tsitsipas, three top 20 players. Against someone like Goffin who has been struggling to make things happen, Sonego will be a lot more confident.
Goffin v Sonego Predictions
Backing Sonego to carve out a straightforward win given his overall form this season.
Goffin v Sonego Tips
