What Has Zverev Done So Far This Season?
Zverev had a solid start to the season when he won both his United Cup singles matches while making it to the final of the Australian Open – making it eight victories in a row.
Since that point, however, Zverev has won just six matches to go with six defeats as well. His best showing other than that Australian Open performance came when he reached the fourth round of the Miami Masters but as a world number two he would have wanted to do a lot more by now.
His clay court appearances have led to some poor performances too, which have included early exits at the Argentina Open and Rio Open and now at the Monte-Carlo Masters as well. This was followed by a second round loss at the hands of Matteo Berrettini following a first round bye.
He finally went on to show his capabilities as he captured the Munich Open title after beating Ben Shelton in the final.
What Has Zverev Done in His Career?
One of the youngest players to have broken into the top 20 when he got there in 2017, Zverev has been one of the most consistent performers in the world.
What’s been surprising is that Zverev hasn’t won a Grand Slam title till now despite reaching the final of three such competitions – losing to Dominic Thiem at the 2020 US Open, to Carlos Alcaraz at the 2024 French Open and at the hands of Jannik Sinner at the 2025 Australian Open.
Other than this, Zverev has also won the ATP Finals twice in his career – in 2018 and 2021 – and is a gold medallist at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Having won his first ever ATP title in 2016 in St. Petersburg, Zverev has also grabbed seven ATP Masters 1000 tournament wins being equally proficient on hardcourt surfaces and on clay.
