Iga Swiatek v Caroline Garcia Head to Head
There have been five previous occasions on which these two have faced off and Swiatek leads 4-1.
They last faced off at the United Cup last year, after having faced off in Beijing in 2023 and Cincinnati in 2019 as their other outdoor hardcourt matches with Swiatek winning every single time.
Swiatek Begins Title Defence
With eight titles in 2022 and six and five respectively over the following two seasons, Iga Swiatek looked to be on a win-collection spree.
This year she hasn’t won one yet in the first two months which means Swiatek will be a lot hungrier coming into the Indian Wells Open – a tournament she has grabbed twice in her career already.
Swiatek starts off her campaign on the back of some middling feeling – there could still be effects of the doping ban lingering on but at the same time she has had some good results go her way.
Like when she made the semifinal at the Australian Open before going down fighting to Madison Keys.
Swiatek will be aiming for the number one spot though, having conceded that to Aryna Sabalenka and a good performance here will be the stepping stone for it.

Garcia Downs Pera for Just Her Second Win
Caroline Garcia will be breathing a lot easier now. She had come into the Indian Wells Open this year on the back of just one win all season and had fallen to 71st in the world.
And with a third round appearance at this tournament last year, Garcia was defending a few points too when she took to court for her opener against Bernarda Pera.
It’s a different matter that Pera herself has been enduring some form issues and that showed in their match.
Garcia might not have been at her best with her serving, getting broken twice in the encounter but she did enough to clinch the match 6-3, 6-4 in an hour and 18 minutes.
This follows opening round exits for Garcia at the Australian Open, WTA Abu Dhabi and in Dubai.
Swiatek v Garcia Predictions
Swiatek will be a runaway favourite here and we feel that Garcia would do well to win more than six games in this encounter.
