Danielle Collins v Hailey Baptiste Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2024 Brisbane International where Collins had won in three sets.
Collins Hasn’t Played Since the Australian Open
Danielle Collins had announced she was planning to retire by the end of the 2024 season but her plans to start a family hit a health-related roadblock, allowing her to return to the circuit in 2025.
She hasn’t played much though with Collins losing in the first round of the Adelaide International and then reaching the third round at the Australian Open before falling to the eventual champion Madison Keys.
Having been booed in her previous round and have retaliated in kind after winning that encounter against Destanee Aiava, Collins couldn’t keep up with the momentum against Keys.
She now makes a return in a tournament where she was knocked out in the second round last year. Can Collins improve on that showing here?

Baptiste Eases Past Osuigwe
Hailey Baptiste had made the second round of this competition last year and repeated that showing this season again when she defeated Whitney Osuigwe in her opener here.
In a match lasting just an hour and 14 minutes, Baptiste carved out a 6-1, 6-2 victory over her American compatriot to reach the second round.
Baptiste did not face a single break-point in the match, winning 72% of her points on serve to bag her win. In turn she got the better of Osuigwe’s serve four times.
This was Baptiste’s third win of the season but first since January 2 having earlier also made the quarterfinals of the Auckland Open.
Her opponent here might not have played in a while but Baptiste’s form doesn’t paint a very rosy picture for her.
Collins v Baptiste Predictions
Collins is returning after a bit of a layoff which could prove to be a hindrance for her but we still think she has the game to get the better of Baptiste. Might take a fight but backing Collins to clinch this.
