Paula Badosa v Caroline Dolehide Preview
Head-to-Head: Their only previous meeting came in the 2024 Washington Open where Badosa won in straight sets.
2021 winner Paula Badosa looked to have made a sterling comeback to the circuit after being out of action because of fitness issues. Once ranked second in the world, Badosa’s performances over 2024 and the start of 2025 have helped her break back into the top 10.
A semifinal appearance at the Australian Open obviously helped, as did a third round showing at the WTA Dubai.
Unfortunately for Badosa, she suffered a back injury during her quarterfinal encounter in Merida against Daria Saville and was forced to retire from the match. The big question is if she can get fit in time for this encounter after getting an extra day off following an opening bye.
Badosa faces Caroline Dolehide who entered the second round following a straight-set win over Kamilla Rakhimova.
Dolehide won 6-2, 7-6 (3) to make the round of 64 here for the third time in her career. She had done that last year too, in turn entering the third round as well.
Having waltzed into the quarterfinals at the Austin Open last week, Dolehide had bought a 4-4 record for the season into this tournament. Can she test out Badosa’s fitness here?
Badosa v Dolehide prediction: Dolehide to win a set – Yes: 1/1

Karolina Muchova v Elisabetta Cocciaretto Preview
Head-to-Head: Muchova and Cocciaretto have never faced off before this.
Karolina Muchova is 28 years old, has been around on the circuit since the early part of the 2010s and yet, the only time she played in the Indian Wells before this was in 2023.
Yes, that’s her only appearance in this tournament with Muchova making it to the quarterfinals there.
She missed it last year too which means that the world number 15 will enter this year’s tournament in Indian Wells with no points to defend and a deep run could help her get closer to a top-10 spot.
Muchova has the form going for her as well with a semifinal appearance at the Linz Open and another one in Dubai before this. She faces Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the second round.
Cocciaretto overcame Renata Zarazua in a curtailed opening fixture to register her first ever main draw win in this tournament. She was leading Zarazua 6-4, 1-0 when her opponent retired from the encounter.
This was Cocciaretto’s third win of the season having earlier gotten knocked out in the first round itself on four occasions in 2025. Can she now double her win count in Indian Wells?
Muchova v Cocciaretto prediction: Muchova to win in straight sets: 2/5
