Yulia Putintseva v Katerina Siniakova Preview
Head-to-Head: They have played each other twice before this and both those matches came in 2024. Siniakova won in Strasbourg while Putintseva responded with a victory at Wimbledon.
Yulia Putintseva had kick-started the season with a semifinal appearance at the Adelaide International and would later make the third round at the Australian Open – her career-best showing at this Grand Slam.
Since then, her performances have fallen a bit tepid with Putintseva winning just one of the four matches she played in the Middle East but she still enters this tournament at her career-best ranking of 20th in the world.
Her real test will begin now with Putintseva having made the fourth round here last year and having those many points to defend as a result.
She faces a challenging opponent in the form of Katerina Siniakova in the second round.
Siniakova was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Maria Carle Lourdes which was a pleasant result for her on a couple of counts. One, Siniakova had emulated her previous four years’ showing at this tournament with that win.
Secondly, Siniakova had suffered an injury in Cluj-Napoca and while she did feature – and lose – in the first round in Dubai, a win like this would give her the confidence that things are back to normal for her.
We could see an interesting one here that might see them head into the third set.
Putintseva v Siniakova prediction: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6

Ons Jabeur v Dayana Yastremska Preview
Head-to-Head: Jabeur and Yastremska have never faced off before this.
Ons Jabeur might not still be at her best, the kind of tennis that had seen her make it to the world number two at one stage, but there have been improvements this year.
And that can be seen from her rankings too with Jabeur having climbed 10 spots from her season-ending ranking of 42nd last year.
This has been thanks to her consistent performances throughout these two months in 2025 in which she made the quarterfinal in Brisbane, Abu Dhabi and Doha and carries an 11-6 win-loss record.
She might have lost her opener at Dubai, going down at the hands of Peyton Stearns but that could have been a case of sheer exhaustion at the end of a gruelling two months.
Here she takes on Dayana Yastremska, who did not have too much trouble getting the better of Yue Yuan.
As was expected, Yastremska defeated Yuan 6-2, 6-4 to reach the second round for the third year running and fourth time in her career overall.
Yastremska had earlier made the final of the Linz Open and appeared in the third round at both, the Australian Open and WTA Dubai. She will carry a lot of that confidence into this match.
Jabeur v Yastremska prediction: Three sets in the match: 6/5
