Jack Draper v Joao Fonseca Head to Head
Draper and Fonseca will be facing off for the first time.
Draper Returning from a Strong Doha Showing
Jack Draper has had his concerns with fitness but when he is fully fit and functioning, his on-court performances have been something to behold.
The British number one has climbed up to 14th right now, with a career-best of 12th, and this is with just two tournament appearances this season.
In the first, Draper reached the fourth round at the Australian Open where Carlos Alcaraz overcame him in the first two sets of the encounter before he was forced to retire with a hip injury.
Draper came back in Doha after that and lo and behold, ran away to the final there with wins over the likes of Matteo Berrettini and Jiri Lehecka. It took Andrey Rublev to end his run.
He has a tough opening encounter here as he looks to emulate his fourth round showing from 2023.

Fonseca Sends Out Fearnley
Joao Fonseca is ranked 80th in the world and has already sent the tongues wagging. He has been touted to be the next big thing by the experts and that was on display when he took to court earlier this year at various points.
He had started the season off with a title win in the Canberra Challenger, then qualified for the Australian Open before stunning Andrey Rublev in the first round.
But Fonseca’s crowning moment came at the Argentina Open where he won his maiden ATP title by defeating Francisco Cerundolo in straight sets in the final.
The Brazilian player faced some challenges against Jacob Fearnley in the first round here with the Brit taking him to a third set. Interestingly, this was his fourth three-setter in seven matches and Fonseca has won them all.
Can he now overcome a second British player in a row?
