Marta Kostyuk v Caroline Dolehide Head to Head
Marta Kostyuk and Caroline Dolehide have faced each other once before, during the 2024 WTA Qatar and Kostyuk had won that in straight sets.
Kostyuk Eases Past Montgomery
Marta Kostyuk had made the third round at the Australian Open and then won three matches in a row at Doha before falling in her quarterfinal to the eventual winner Amanda Anisimova.
Since then she had played three matches and lost two and with the season having begun with with two successive defeats for her, questions had begun to be asked of her performances.
The good news for Kostyuk was the manner in which she demolished Robin Montgomery, defeating her American opponent in straight sets.
Following a first round bye, Kostyuk carved out a 6-1, 6-3 win over Montgomery in an hour and 12 minutes and will now hope to get closer to her performance from the previous season in which she had made the semifinal at this event.

Dolehide Ends Lys’ Journey
Known for her powerful groundstrokes and aggressive playing style, Caroline Dolehide made full use of that to down lucky loser Eva Lys in the second round.
Having bested Kamilla Rakhimova in the first round here, Dolehide registered a 7-6 (3), 6-4 victory over Lys to set up a meeting with Kostyuk.
Lys had entered the second round directly as a replacement for Paula Badosa and put up a fight in the opening set, saving break-points in three of the games she served in.
However, Dolehide broke the deadlock in the tie-breaker that followed and then overcame the loss of her serve in the second set to break Lys twice in the second.
This follows Dolehide’s quarterfinal appearance at the Austin Open last week.
