Daniil Medvedev v Alex Michelsen Head to Head
Medvedev and Muller have never faced off before this.
Medvedev in An Easy Opening Victory
Following a first round bye, the rather out of sorts Daniil Medvedev took on China’s Yunchaokete Bu in the second round. And if one thought that the struggling Medvedev would find life difficult against him, they were off the mark.
Because in a match that lasted an hour and 37 minutes, Medvedev carved out a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Bu to make the third round.
Medvedev lost his serve just once in the match and that came in the very first game of the encounter, giving Bu a 1-0 lead. From that point onward, Medvedev broke back three times in the first and twice in the second set to grab an easy win.
Having begun the season with some underwhelming performances – a quarterfinal at Doha and Dubai being his best – Medvedev will now hope he can take that step closer to emulating his performance here last season.
The Russian had made the final of this tournament last year – and in 2023 – but it was also the beginning of Medvedev’s title-less run.

Michelsen Dispatches Smith
Colton Smith had surprised a few with a win over Flavio Cobolli in the first round but his performance in the second didn’t hold a candle to Alex Michelsen.
Smith still managed to put up some resistance and push the encounter to nearly an hour and 50 minutes but in the end, Michelsen found a way to win in straight sets.
Michelsen grabbed his place in the third round with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Interestingly, Michelsen began the match with his serve in stride as Smith held five break-points in the very first game but he saved them all before breaking him in the sixth game.
In the second set, Smith drew first blood with a break in the second game but Michelsen broke right back and again in the ninth game. He missed three match-points before converting his fourth to seal his spot in round three.
Medvedev v Michelsen Predictions
Medvedev’s underwhelming form gives Michelsen a chance here which gives 7/20 for a win for Medvedev – not too bad for a player ranked sixth in the world. Backing the Russian to win this.
