It was never expected to be a straightforward second round encounter with both players starting out at 5/6 or above odds to win this – signifying there were no real favourites between Daria Kasatkina and Sofia Kenin in this match.

Samsonova Stretched but Douses McNally’s Efforts
Caty McNally hasn’t been able to play a lot of competitive tennis because of a variety of reasons and has fallen to outside the top 450 at the moment.
She won her opener against the injured Ajla Tomljanovic and made things difficult for the 1/3 favourite Liudmilla Samsonova before her Russian opponent found a way to come through.
In a match that went on for an hour and 49 minutes, Samsonova saved three set-points in the opening tie-breaker before winning 7-6 (8), 6-4.
Samsonova, who had a first round bye, will now be featuring in a third round match at the Indian Wells Open for the second time in her career after her fourth round appearance here at the 2022 edition.
