Madison Keys v Donna Vekic Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two and Keys leads 2-1.
The American won at the 2016 French Open and 2018 Italian Open while Vekic registered a hard-fought victory at the 2019 Canadian Open.
Keys in a Hard-Fought Win over Mertens
Madison Keys should have probably won her third round match against Elise Mertens in straight sets without drama. But when you miss out on a chance to serve it out in the second set and squander four match-points, there is a good possibility it comes back to bite you.
In this case, Keys did not suffer too much – just an extra 50 minutes or so in the desert but she would want to be more clinical in the rest of the tournament.
Due credit to Mertens as well for not giving up and even coming back from a break down in the decider to level things out at 3-3 before Keys won 6-2, 6-7 (8), 6-4 to reach the fourth round.
The Australian Open winner is now 15-1 for the season and faces Donna Vekic for a place in the quarterfinals.

Vekic Shocks Navarro
For the second match in a row, Donna Vekic was a distant second-favourite heading into the encounter but came away a winner. And for the second successive match, it was a straight-set win for Vekic.
Taking on a top-10 player in Emma Navarro, Vekic shrugged off a plethora of breaks in the opening set to grab it in a tie-breaker.
In the second, however, Vekic ran away to a 4-0 lead and while she was broken once – which was also the fifth time in the match she had lost her serve – she came back to clinch the match 7-6 (5), 6-1.
Vekic had earlier overcome Elina Avanesyan too and makes the fourth round despite having come into the tournament on the back of a four-match losing streak.
Keys v Vekic Predictions
Keys has far too much going for her and while she could be a tad prone to a few moments of underwhelming tennis at times, her fighting capabilities and superior form should take her through here.
Keys v Vekic Tips
- Keys to win in straight sets: 6/5
