Katie Boulter hit a career-best ranking of 23rd in the world in the first week of this season but since then she has been struggling to get going. And this isn’t just restricted to her performance on court alone.
It’s been Boulter’s fitness that has been a cause for concern with the Briton having struggled with her foot throughout this season.
She had featured at the United Cup earlier this season and then played at the Australian Open where she lost in the second round. Following that, it was that very injury that kept her out of action for nearly two months.
Boulter returned to courts in the Indian Wells Open and won her opener, scraping through to a three-set win over Irina Begu. In the second, Elena Rybakina ended her stay in straight sets.
All eyes will be on Boulter’s fitness now that she takes on a player who is currently at her career-best ranking.
Stearns on a Three-Match Losing Streak
Peyton Stearns has had a bit of a middling season so far. In fact, if one were to look at the main draw matches alone, Stearns has won just five of the 13 matches this season.
And that comes on the back of having won her maiden title in 2024.
This happens at times when players are found out following their breakthrough season and it is fair to say that 2024 was Stearns’ breakthrough year.
