When Grigor Dimitrov kick-started the season at the Brisbane International and won three matches in a row to make the semifinal there, it looked like he had taken off from he left last year.

He was a 6-4, 7-5 winner over his American opponent and will now be gunning for a place in the semifinal as he takes on Francisco Cerundolo.
Cerundolo Goes Past Ruud
Casper Ruud has had his issues in hardcourt competitions but what’s surprising was he went down to a fellow clay-court specialist in Francisco Cerundolo.
Cerundolo, who had come off a confidence-inspiring, quarterfinal appearance at the Indian Wells Masters before this, sealed off another last eight stage with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Ruud in the fourth round.
That made it 16-6 on win-loss for Cerundolo, who had earlier also made the third round at the Australian Open and then entered the final of his home clay court competition in Buenos Aires.
Here in Miami, Cerundolo had a first round bye before overcoming Alexandre Muller and stunning Tommy Paul in his previous two rounds. A semifinalist here in 2022, Cerundolo will now look to emulate that feat by surprising Dimitrov.
