The 2025 WTA Rouen Open will continue on Tuesday, April 15 as the remaining first round matches get played today. Olga Danilovic, Alycia Parks and Sonay Kartal will be some of those in action and you can get the best predictions and tips for the day from this tournament today.
Olga Danilovic v Aleksandra Krunic
World number 39 Olga Danilovic will enter her first round match in Rouen with a chance to overturn her 0-1 win-loss record against Aleksandra Krunic with the bookmakers pegging her as a 1/7 favourite here.
The reason for such lavish odds in favour of Danilovic are quite simple – not only is Danilovic ranked over 230 places ahead of Krunic, she is also coming off a top performance in a WTA 125 tournament in Antalya on clay two weeks ago.
The Serb did not drop a single set on her way to winning that title, losing a mere 13 games over the five matches she played there. Overall too, Danilovic is a solid clay-courter having made the fourth round at the French Open last year as a qualifier and was a semifinalist at the Hamburg Open to go with that.
Like at the Bogota Open, Krunic was forced to come through the qualifiers to make it to the main draw here too. There she had lost her opener to Marie Bouzkova but not before she had pushed her opponent into a third set which should give Krunic a tad bit of confidence.
She enters the first round here on the back of a shock win over Linda Fruhvirtova in the qualifiers and will hope she can make life difficult on court for Danilovic.
Danilovic v Krunic Tip: Danilovic to win in straight sets: 1/2
Alycia Parks v Camilla Rosatello
This will be a first time meeting between the 53rd-ranked Alycia Parks and the world number 288, Camilla Rostello and it could turn into an interesting one given how things have gone for the American.
Parks’ only clay court appearance this season came at the Bogota Open earlier this year and there she was knocked out in the very first round by Iva Jovic. A 6-1, 6-4 defeat would have stung.
And it wasn’t even her worst showing on clay with Parks having bagged just one main draw win last season on this surface – this was from seven tournaments including an ITF competition and a few other WTA 125s.
Which is why while Parks is a 9/20 favourite here, one needs to look at how Rosatello has done on clay. After having played in hardcourt competitions throughout the season she shifted her focus to clay earlier this year and made the quarterfinals of an ITF event.
And here, in her second such tournament of the season, Rosatello overcame Diana Martynov and Nuria Brancaccio to make the main draw. All in all, we think she has the game to test out Parks but whether she would have the experience to finish the match off needs to be seen.
Parks v Rosatello Tip: Rosatello to win a set – Yes: 8/11
Sonay Kartal v Varvara Gracheva
This is an interesting one between world numbers 59 and 67 respectively, what with Britain’s Sonay Kartal playing Varvara Gracheva in this first round match for the first time in their careers.
Kartal is coming off a strong performance in the Billie Jean King Cup, enabling Great Britain to scrape through to the next stage but as far as her performances on clay go, it’s not one of her most preferred surfaces.
She hasn’t played on red dirt since 2023 and despite being a top-60 player in the world, Kartal has never participated in a WTA event in her career. That’s a bit of a surprise for sure.
On the other hand, Gracheva is coming off a second round appearance at the Charleston Open where she had defeated Britain’s Harriet Dart in the first round. And last year, she had also made the fourth round at the French Open, her best showing at a Grand Slam which is also an indicator of her surface preferences.
We think this could turn out to be a keen tussle that goes to a third.
Kartal v Gracheva Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/5
