WTA Monastir Open Betting Tips, Picks, Predictions & Odds for the 2025 Edition

Get all the free WTA Monastir Open betting tips, predictions and picks along with their latest odds for the 2025 edition of the tournament, a women’s hardcourt competition played in the week after the US Open.

Also called the Jasmin Open, the WTA Monastir is a WTA 250 tournament which is held in Tunisia. With the presence of Tunisian player Ons Jabeur adding to the interest, WTA decided to add this event to the women’s tennis calendar in 2022.

It has been said that Jabeur’s presence has helped increase the number of women taking up tennis in Tunisia, going from 6000 in 2020 to 22000 in 2022.

The other reason for the addition of this tournament was the suspension of tennis tournaments in China. Even on the return of tennis to that country, the Tunisian Open continues to be played.

Unlike the previous two seasons in which the tournament was held in October, the 2024 edition of the Monastir Open was played in September.

WTA Monastir Open 2025 Tournament Preview

We will update this section with the preview to the 2025 edition in the weeks to come. For now, here’s the preview to the previous edition.

Elise Mertens kick starts this competition as the two-time defending champion and will also be the bookmakers’ favourite to grab the title again. She comes into this tournament on the back of a fourth round appearance at the US Open and that should give her some confidence coming into this one.

With Anastasia Zakharova in the first round and the possibility of facing Lesia Tsurenko in the second, Mertens shouldn’t have a lot of issues getting through to the last eight. From that point onward, things could get interesting.

What we think could happen is Diane Parry could spring a something on Mertens when they potentially meet in the semifinal.

The other half of the draw will see Clara Burel get to the second round and while she has Anna Blinkova as her potential quarterfinal opponent, it might not be easy for either player to make it that far given their form.

Can the WTA Barranquilla title winner and fourth seed Nadia Podoroska push on and reach the last four? That could be a difficult one.

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the WTA Monastir Open?

In what turned out to be a shock result, Britain’s Sonay Kartal defied her qualifier status to clinch her first ever career WTA title. Kartal, who hadn’t dropped a single set on her way through to the main draw of the tournament, then lost just one on her way to winning the tournament.

She defeated another unseeded player and Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova 6-3, 7-5 to grab the title.

The only other British player to have won a tournament before Kartal as a qualifier was Emma Raducanu, who had gone on to lift the US Open title victory in 2021.

Earlier, the two-time defending champion Elise Mertens was bundled out by Eva Lys in the second round.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the WTA Monastir Open?

Defending champion and second seeded Elise Mertens made it two titles in as many years when she defeated the top seeded Jasmine Paolini in the final. Mertens won 6-3, 6-0 over Paolini.

In what turned out to be one of her career best showing, Mertens dropped a maximum of five games in any one match and a total of 21 games in the entire tournament on her way to lifting the title.

While third seeded Martina Trevisan was knocked out in the first round, fourth seeded Lesia Tsurenko and eighth seeded Clara Burel made their way to the semifinals.
