Iga Swiatek v Madison Keys Head to Head
These two players have faced off five times before this and Swiatek leads Keys 4-1. Three of these matches have come on clay and Swiatek is 3-0 on them while they shared spoils at the Indian Wells and Cincinnati competitions of 2022.
Swiatek Imperious Again in Navarro Win
Iga Swiatek looks to have put 2024 behind her as she raced off to another sterling performance. Taking on the eighth seeded Emma Navarro in the quarterfinal, the Polish player dropped a mere three games on her way to the win.
It was her fourth successive victory in the tournament where Swiatek had lost three games or lower – and over a five-match period at the 2025 Australian Open she has now dropped a mere 14 games.
In what was a dominant performance yet again, Swiatek got off to a rollicking start by dismantling Navarro’s second serve to earn an early break and from that point onward there was just one-way traffic.
Navarro did try and push the rallies to more shots but Swiatek was having none of it as she went on to break the American four more times in her 6-1, 6-2 win.
This was Swiatek’s ninth match win for the season to go with one defeat that had come at the United Cup. She now takes on a player who is herself on a 10-match winning streak.
Keys Battles Past Svitolina
Elina Svitolina tried her best to push Madison Keys into a corner but couldn’t prevent the American from notching up her 10th successive win of the season.
In a match that went on for an hour and 54 minutes, Keys overturned the loss of the first set to beat Svitolina 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and enter the semifinal of this competition for the third time in her career.
In a fairly cagey match, there were a total of three breaks of serve – one in each of the three sets. Keys faced just two break-points, losing her serve off one in the first set and saving the other in the very first game of the second.
From there on, Keys great into the contest and got the better of Svitolina’s serve on two occasions.
And having already beaten Danielle Collins and Elena Rybakina in the previous two rounds, Keys has claimed six top-20 scalps to go with two other top-30 victories.
The question is if she can take down the world number two, who has been exhibiting the form of her life.
Swiatek v Keys Prediction
Looking at how the season has gone so far, three four players who could have been expected to make the semifinals have all taken their appointed places – and that’s saying a lot for Keys who is one of those four.
She now joins the big league, in that she will need to usurp a player of Swiatek’s quality and form to make it to her maiden Australian Open final and the first title-decider at a major since the 2017 US Open.
Swiatek will hold the aces but surely Keys won’t be allowing a similar scoreline to what the Pole has managed so far in the tournament.
