Renata Zarazua v Hailey Baptiste Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these players, both of which came on the ITF circuit and in 2021. Zarazua won them both.
Zarazua Inching Back towards Best
Renata Zarazua had kickstarted the 2025 ranked 75th in the world but after three modest results, she has managed to climb up 10 spots.
In all three tournaments she played, Zarazua managed to win one main draw round before falling in the second.
And to be fair to her, Zarazua’s defeats were on expected lines – she was up against Aryna Sabalenka in Brisbane, Elise Mertens in Hobart and Jasmine Paoli at the Australian Open.
Last year she had featured in an ITF tournament immediately after the season’s first Grand Slam, while this year she has a direct entry into a WTA competition – a win here could take her to further close to her career-best ranking of 51st.
Auckland Quarterfinal for Baptiste
Hailey Baptiste would have been chuffed with her performance at the Auckland Open to kick her season off.
She eased past Renata Jamrichova in her opener before edging through a final set tie-breaker against Jodie Burrage in the second round there.
It needed former Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka to end her journey there.
Unfortunately for Baptiste she fell in the first round of the Australian Open as well, but more vitally lost to Laura Siegemund who was 11/10 odds coming into that encounter.
It’s this very inconsistency that has been a problem for the American and hasn’t allowed her to get better than her 80th rank on the WTA circuit.

Zarazua v Baptiste Prediction
Both players enter this tournament on the back of mixed records and that could make this an exciting match. The bookmakers have Baptiste at 4/5 favourite but we think this could go either way and a Zarazua win at 1/1 could make for a good option.
