Cristina Bucsa v Mananchaya Sawangkaew Head to Head
Bucsa and Sawangkaew have never faced off in any form of tennis.
Bucsa Stuns Raducanu
Cristina Bucsa had gone into her opening round match as a 27/10 rank outsider to surprise Emma Raducanu.
Nearly an hour later, those odds had further lengthened when Raducanu had battled past Bucsa to grab the set by breaking her opponent twice in a row.
It might have been easy for Bucsa to fall apart after that but the Spaniard refused to give in, took an early break and despite getting broken back, hung on to the contest.
Raducanu might have been expecting an easier second set but all of those thoughts would have dissipated when Bucsa broke for a 6-5 lead before serving it out.
In a service-break-filled final set, both players dropped their serves three times to take them to 5-5. Bucsa went 40-15 up on her opponent’s serve and broke her off the second opportunity before converting her third match-point to end Raducanu’s short stay in the competition.

Sawangkaew Finally Beats Wei
Mananchaya Sawangkaew was 6/5 going into her opening round encounter against Sijia Wei with the two having faced off three times before this on the ITF circuit. All of those matches had been won by Wei and there were no surprises when she began as the favourite.
An hour and 51 minutes later, Sawangkaew had completed her first victory over her Chinese opponent, winning 6-4, 7-6 (2) to reach the second round.
Having made her WTA debut less than a year ago, Sawangkaew won the all-qualifier battle despite losing her serve a whopping seven times. Sijia missed on eight other opportunities to get the better of Sawangkaew’s serve.
This meant that Sawangkaew had won her first main draw match at this level since her quarterfinal appearance as a qualifier in Jiangxi last October.
