Jelena Ostapenko v Ons Jabeur Head to Head
There have been four previous matches between these two players at the highest level and Jabeur leads 3-1. None of these matches have come in an outdoor hardcourt competition though.
Jabeur won in their latest meeting which came at the 2024 Madrid Open.
Ostapenko Struggling But Tough Draw an Issue
For a player who had begun the season ranked 15th in the world, Jelena Ostapenko’s 1-3 record for the month of January would have left her fuming.
And it has resulted in her falling to outside the top 30 when the rankings are updated at the start of the new week.
However, there is a bit of a catch to this. Ostapenko might still not be happy with her performance but she has had a tough draw across all the three tournaments she has featured in.
It started with a second round match at the Brisbane International against Marie Bouzkova, before she faced Madison Keys – the toast of the tennis town right now! – at the same stage in Adelaide before losing to Belinda Bencic in the first round of the Australian Open.
Can she turn things around here having not taken part in Abu Dhabi last year?

Jabeur Makes a Steady Start to 2025
Having begun the 2024 season ranked sixth in the world, Ons Jabeur had fallen to 42nd by the end of the year.
This was thanks to a combination of fitness woes and some indifferent form which saw Jabeur barely win too many matches in the first half of the season – she was 3-7 at one stage.
Things looked to have changed this year and while the shift hasn’t been drastic, the results have started going her way.
Kick-starting her season in Brisbane, Jabeur won three rounds there to make the quarterfinal before falling to Mirra Andreeva. This included a victory over Ekaterina Alexandrova before she took down Danielle Collins in Adelaide.
And then at the Australian Open, Jabeur made the third round again at the expense of Anhelina Kalinina and Camila Osorio.
With Ostapenko struggling for form, this could be Jabeur’s chance to get the better of a renowned opponent and attempt going deep into the tournament.
Ostapenko v Jabeur Prediction
Jabeur gets the bookmakers’ nod with an offer of 11/20 for a win for her and while we think the match might get close, she should still come through.
