Jodie Burrage v Ana Bogdan Preview
Head-to-Head: Burrage and Bogdan have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Jodie Burrage had seriously contemplated retiring from the sport after it became more and more difficult to manage her fitness concerns. Fortunately for her, she managed to keep working at it and returned to the circuit in September last year.
She had a decent run on the ITF circuit, even winning a title there and making three semifinals and a final to go with that. Burrage followed that up with a second round appearance at both, the Auckland Open and the Australian Open.
While Burrage failed to qualify for the Linz Open last week, she will hope to continue with her solid return when she takes on the 120th-ranked Ana Bogdan.
Bogdan kick-started her season at the Brisbane International where she made the main draw but fell to Anastasia Potapova. Soon after she lost in the first qualifying round at the Australian Open.
Interestingly, she was the finalist here last year and while she stands to lose a lot of points if she is unable to make it that far, it also shows that Bogdan likes playing on this surface. We could see a close encounter here.
Burrage v Bogdan prediction: Three sets in the match: 5/4
Alycia Parks v Olga Danilovic Preview
Head-to-Head: Their only previous meeting came at the 2021 US Open and Danilovic had won it in straight sets.
Alycia Parks had found herself going well at the Auckland Open which was her first tournament of the season. Wins over Amanda Anisimova, Katie Volynets and Greet Minnen took her to the semifinals there.
While Naomi Osaka got the better of Parks, she would have been quite chuffed about her showing.
That, however has been followed by successive defeats – to Mirjam Bjorklund at the Australian Open qualifiers and Maya Joint in Singapore last week.
And Parks now takes on an in-form Olga Danilovic.
Danilovic enters this tournament ranked 41st in the world, which is a career-best for the Serb.
Having won the Guangzhou Open title last year, she continued to excel in 2025 as well as she reached the fourth round at the Australian Open last month. In doing so, she took out Liudmilla Samsonova and Jessica Pegula.
She starts a 3/5 favourite and we will have to back her to get through again on account of her form.
Parks v Danilovic prediction: Danilovic to win: 3/5
Jessica Bouzas Maneiro v Laura Siegemund Preview
Head-to-Head: Bouzas Maneiro and Siegemund have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Jessica Bouzas Maneiro will be a tad surprised with her result at the Linz Open where she was ousted in the first round by Viktoriya Tomova despite having gone into the match as a 2/5 favourite.
That followed a string of modest results for Bouzas Maneiro which saw her lose to Elena Rybakina at the United Cup, Maria Lordes Carle at the Hobart International and Aryna Sabalenka at the Australian Open.
Can she avoid a third successive defeat now when she faces the in-form Laura Siegemund?
In-form is a relative term because Siegemund does come into this tournament ranked 80th in the world, 22 places behind her opponent in this match.
However she did overcome Hailey Baptiste in the first round of the Australian Open before shocking Qinwen Zheng in the second. A third round at the opening major of the season was her joint-best result at the tournament and she will now hope to continue in the same vein.
Bouzas Maneiro v Siegemund prediction: Siegemund to win: 11/10
Corentin Moutet v Mitchell Krueger Preview
Head-to-Head: Moutet and Krueger have never faced off before this.
.
Moutet v Krueger prediction: Over 3.5 sets in the match: 4/7
