Marketa Vondrousova v Elina Svitolina Head to Head
There have been six previous meetings between these two players and both have won three apiece. In hardcourt competitions, this head to head is 2-1 in favour of Svitolina, who won at this very competition in 2018 and then again in 2019 in Indian Wells.
They last faced off at the 2023 Wimbledon where Vondrousova eased past Svitolina on her way to the title.

Marketa Vondrousova hasn’t had the greatest of starts to the season as far as her fitness is concerned.
She featured in the Adelaide International and after scraping through to a three-set win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the first round, Vondrousova was pegged by a left thigh injury in the second round.
The former Wimbledon winner retired from that match and was then forced to pull out of the Australian Open after that.
Vondrousova returned to competitive tennis soon after that, winning against Emma Raducanu and Yulia Putintseva in Abu Dhabi but then met the raging Belinda Bencic in the quarterfinals which she lost in straight sets.
She will hope to keep the same form going against Svitolina.

Svitolina Stunned in Linz
Elina Svitolina opted not to feature in any of the WTA tournaments in the lead-up to the Australian Open but when she took to court at the season’s first Grand Slam there were no signs of rustiness.
If anything, the break looked to have rejuvenated the Ukrainian player as she went on a four-match winning spree, beating Sorana Cirstea, Caroline Dolehide, Jasmine Paolini and Veronika Kudermetova in the process.
It took the eventual winner, Madison Keys to get the better of her in the quarterfinals.
Which is why it was rather surprising to see Svitolina fall at the very first hurdle at Linz, losing to Anna Blinkova in straight sets.
She will hope to turn things around here but has a tough one first up.
