Alex Michelsen v Cameron Norrie Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the Dallas Open last week in which Norrie defeated Michelsen in three sets in the opening round.
Michelsen Wins after Mmoh Retires in Controversial Match
Following a first round bye, Alex Michelsen faced Michael Mmoh in the second round and it was turning out to be an interesting, intense and even a controversial match that looked like it could go either way.
Mmoh clinched the opening set in a longish tie-breaker with Michelsen saving three set-points before losing it 10-8.
In the second set, however, Michelsen grabbed a 3-0 lead before Mmoh was forced to retire from the encounter because of what seemed like a glute injury.
Michelsen, who could start the next week at a career-best ranking irrespective of the result of this match, later said that he wanted to have a talk with Mmoh after the match and that is what had led to a big of a confrontation between them.
What now remains to be seen is if he can bring that same ferocity in his quarterfinal against a player who witnessed that first-hand last week in Dallas.

Norrie in a Tussle with Rinderknech
Having defeated Zachary Svajda in the first round, Cameron Norrie entered the quarterfinals by overcoming Frenchman and fifth seed Arthur Rinderknech in their second round encounter.
In what turned out to be a rather lengthy opening set, Norrie frittered away seven set-points, saved one of his own before winning the opening set off the eighth opportunity he got.
Things turned out to be relatively easier in the second but in the end he needed nearly two hours to win 7-6 (9), 6-2.
The last time that Norrie had played this tournament was way back in 2022 and he had gone on to win the title. However, the former world number eight has seen his ranking slide to 61st in the world and signs of the reasons for that have been on display this year.
After winning a couple of rounds in Hong Kong, Norrie had won just one from his following five matches.
Michelsen v Norrie Prediction
Michelsen starts a favourite and we believe he has a good chance of making it to the semifinals in what could be a closely-fought encounter.
Michelsen v Norrie Tips
