Paula Badosa v Lulu Sun Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at this very event last year and it was Sun who came away a winner as Badosa retired from the encounter after losing the first set.
Badosa Aspires for More Consistency
Paula Badosa’s season has been of two halves.
The good one consists of her run to the semifinal of the Australian Open which had Badosa defeating Clara Tauson and Cori Gauff as well.
The other half has Badosa losing her opening round matches at Brisbane and Abu Dhabi and in the second round in Adelaide and Doha – which was in the preceding week.
At that tournament in Doha, Renata Zarazua took her to three sets in the first round while Amanda Anisimova knocked her out in two.
Badosa needs some more consistencies in her runs as she looks to maintain her spot in the top 10 of the WTA Rankings.

Sun 1-6 All Year
Lulu Sun’s only win this season has come against Caroline Garcia but more vitally she has lost six matches.
And those losses have been to players Sun would have probably beaten last season when she was in the peak of her form. Because unlike some of the other top 50 players, Sun’s problem hasn’t been to do with her draw.
The Kiwi fell to Rebecca Marino in her season-opener at Auckland, lost to Sofia Kenin in Hobart before ending the Australian swing with a first round loss to Danka Kovinic at the Australian Open.
At the Linz Open, Sun was ousted by Sara Sorribes Tormo before she met Leylah Fernandez and Liudmilla Samsonova – two really difficult opponents.
Things aren’t getting any simpler here as she takes on Badosa and unless Sun can find some mojo of the old, she could be looking at another defeat.
Badosa v Sun Prediction
While Badosa is a favourite she has had some difficult results other than that in the Australian Open. Backing the Spaniard to win in straight sets but she could be tested in at least one of those.
Badosa v Sun Tips
