Jack Draper v Alexei Popyrin Head to Head
Draper and Popyrin have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Draper Has Only an Australian Open Appearance Under His Belt
Jack Draper has had his fitness concerns over the years and it’s creditable that despite all of those, he is ranked 15th in the world. An example of that dual-sided nature can be seen from how Draper’s season has gone so far.
The Briton did not play in any tournament before the Australian Open and when he did feature there, he overcame all of three opponents in long, five-setters to reach the fourth round.
There, he was forced to retire from his match against Carlos Alcaraz because of a hip injury and hasn’t played since. We are more than a month and a half into the season and Draper’s featured in just the Australian Open and gone all the way up to the fourth.
That is something he would look to overcome, i.e. try and play more often than he has and have a season he had in 2024 when he won the titles in Vienna and Stuttgart.

Popyrin 0-3 for 2025
It’s been a highly forgettable season for Australia’s Alexei Popyrin who has featured in three tournaments and lost in the first round at each of them.
These losses have come to Matteo Arnaldi, Corentin Moutet and Jiri Lehecka – the last of which happened at the Rotterdam Open.
Interestingly, despite starting out the season as the 24th-ranked player and not won a single match over a month and a half long period, he still has only fallen to 27th (his new ranking when they get updated next).
This is to do with the fact that he wasn’t defending too many points from this time-frame last year.
Now begins his real test with Popyrin having made the semifinal of this event last year. He would know he will begin to drop a lot of points if he continues to perform the way he has so far.
Draper v Popyrin Prediction
Draper, if fully fit, will prove to be a handful here and should have no worries starting out against an out of form Popyrin. Backing the Briton to clinch this, probably in three sets as he gets used to life after the short layoff.
Draper v Popyrin Tips
- Draper to win: 2/5
- Three sets in the match: 6/5
