Alycia Parks v Sorana Cirstea Head to Head
Parks and Cirstea have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Qualifier Parks Ousts Wang
In one of the minor upsets on the opening round, Alycia Parks found a way to ease past Xinyu Wang and make it to the second round of this competition.
In what turned out to be a repeat of what happened in Doha last week where Parks had come through the qualifiers easily before beating Diana Shnaider in the first round, the American has done the same here.
Having beaten Polina Kudermetova – whom she had defeated in the qualifiers last week too – and fellow American player Bernarda Pera in the qualifying rounds here, Parks earned herself a 6-3, 6-3 result over her Chinese opponent.
Parks was on court for an hour and 17 minutes, saved all four of the break-points she faced while breaking Wang three times to clinch the win.
She has a good chance of making round three here.

Cirstea Shocks Kasatkina
With the kind of start that Sorana Cirstea has had to the season, there’s no way one would have thought she could overcome Daria Kasatkina. Definitely not in the manner that she did.
Coming into this tournament on the back of a mere one win for the season which came at the Linz Open against Arantxa Rus, Cirstea was a whopping 7/2 underdog against the in-form Kasatkina.
She not only shrugged off those odds but did that in style as well.
In a match lasting just an hour and 15 minutes, Cirstea registered her second win of the season with a 6-1, 6-4 walloping of her Russian opponent.
Cirstea had last won successive matches in Rome in May 2024 before ending the season on a six-match losing streak. Can she she emulate that winning record here?
Parks v Cirstea Prediction
Cirstea showed glimpses of her performances from the yonder years when she was ranked 21st in the world. Parks, however is the more consistent of them at the moment and will hold a slight edge which we will go with here.
Parks v Cirstea Tips
- Parks to win: 7/10
