Alexander Zverev v Yunchaokete Bu Head to Head
Zverev and Bu have never faced off before this.
Zverev Coming off Buenos Aires Quarters
Having received a first round bye, Alexander Zverev overcame Dusan Lajovic in the second round of the Argentina Open last week.
However, he was put to test in his quarterfinals against Francisco Cerundolo and the world number two went down to his Argentinian opponent despite being up a set.
Zverev will now look to change that around as he aims to reach the latter stages of the tournament here on his debut in Rio.
With a 23-6 win-loss record on clay in 2024, Zverev knows he has the game to perform well on this surface, it’s going to be about finding the motivation and that could come from the kind of hype that another youngster, Joao Fonseca has got over the last few weeks.

Bu 3-6 for the Season
It’s both interesting and surprising to see Yunchkaote Bu play in a clay event this early in the season.
This is a player who first played at the lowest level of tennis in 2017 and in all these years of tennis, has played a total of seven matches on clay.
What more, Bu is yet to win a main draw match on clay at this level. Unfortunately for Bu, he has drawn the world number two first up.
Bu’s form outside of clay hasn’t been too great either with the Chinese player winning just three of the nine matches he’s featured in and having lost in the first round in four of the tournaments he’s taken part in.
Looks like a fifth one’s on its way.
Zverev v Bu Prediction
