Alexander Zverev v Alexander Shevchenko Head to Head
Zverev and Shevchenko will be facing off for the first time.
Zverev Stretched But Wins in Two against Bu
Alexander Zverev did not have it easy in his opener against Yunchaokete Bu but he found a way to get past his Chinese opponent in straight sets in the end.
In a match that went on for two hours and five minutes, Zverev shrugged off two breaks of serves and an opening set tie-breaker to make the second round.
He won 7-6 (4), 6-4 despite falling 4-5 behind as Bu served for the set.
Visions of his quarterfinal loss to Francisco Cerundolo at the Argentina Open last week would have returned for the German but he found a way to overcome those fears and went on to claim his berth next to Shevchenko.

Shevchenko Eases Past Alves
Alexander Shevchenko had come into this tournament with no clay court matches under his belt, having featured in the Delray Beach Open last week.
As a result, he had gone into his opener against Felipe Meligeni Alves as an 11/10 underdog but carved out a fine, straight-set win to reach the second round. Shevchenko won 6-4, 6-2 in just an hour and 26 minutes to advance to the next stage.
Despite the one-sided nature of the scoreline, it was a match filled with break-points and breaks of serves with Shevchenko himself dropping his serve on three occasions. He broke Alves six times from the 15 opportunities that he got.
Shevchenko, who was once ranked 45th in the world, is in dire need of results going his way if he wants to get back in the top 100 again.
A match against the world number two might not help in that regard but it could help him some vital match time for the tournaments ahead.
Zverev v Shevchenko Prediction
Unless Zverev capitulates spectacularly, we expect him to come through easily in this one, with a straight-set win in the offing.
Zverev v Shevchenko Tips
- Zverev to win in straight sets: 1/2
