Tomas Martin Etcheverry has featured in five top-level tournaments this season and for the fourth time he has managed to win his opener.
The Argentine overcame Corentin Moutet in the first round, beating him 6-3, 7-6 (1) to shrug off his only first round loss of the season that had come last week at the Argentina Open.
In a match lasting an hour and 52 minutes, Etcheverry saved five break-points in the first set while breaking Moutet in the first and last game of the set.
The second set was a lot cagier with Moutet coming back from 1-3 and 3-5 down to force it into a tie-breaker. Unfortunately for him, Etcheverry proved to be too good for Moutet.
What now remains to be seen is if the Argentine can win the second round of a competition for the first time this season.

Muller Stuns Fonseca
Joao Fonseca had come into this tournament on the back of a lot of hype. And most of it was deserved too given that he was coming in with a title win at the Argentina Open having earlier defeated Andrey Rublev at the Australian Open.
On the other hand, Alexandre Muller had shown a sudden dip in the form after winning the Hong Kong Open with defeats in the first round of the Australian Open, Rosario Challenger and the Argentina Open last week.
Which is why not too many had given Muller much of a chance to test Fonseca with even the bookmakers offering 33/10 for his win.
Not only did Muller win but also did that in straight sets, clinching his first victory since the first week of January 6-1, 7-6 (4) to make the second round.
