Ugo Carabelli v Damir Dzumhur Head to Head
Carabelli and Dzumhur have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Carabelli Surprises Martinez
Having made it to the competition main draw as a lucky loser despite his defeat to Marcelo Barrios Vera in the second qualifier, Ugo Carabelli came back from being a set down to upset Pedro Martinez in the opener.
In a match lasting two hours and 24 minutes, Carabelli clinched it 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach the second round at this level for the first time this season.
The Rosario Challenger winner had earlier gotten knocked out in the first round of the Argentina Open and while he dropped his own serve four times in the encounter, Carabelli managed to get past Martinez’s serve on six occasions.
Carabelli has already clinched his best ever performance in this tournament after having gotten knocked out of the qualifiers on two previous occasions.

Dzumhur Routs Favourite Lajovic
Dusan Lajovic was a 9/20 favourite coming into his opening round encounter but Damir Dzhumur had other ideas. He did not allow his Serbian opponent to settle down, winning 6-3, 6-4 to make the second round an ATP tournament for the first time this year.
Dzumhur’s dominance can be seen from the fact he faced a mere one break-point in the encounter and saved it easily. In turn he earned nine chances to break Lajovic of which he broke twice – once in each of the sets.
Before that, Dzumhur had lost to Pedro Martinez in the first round of the Argentina Open and other than a couple of Davis Cup wins and two opening round wins at Challenger events, he had done nothing of note.
Like his opponent, he would be quite chuffed with his performance but more vitally also gunning for a rare back to back set of wins.
Carabelli v Dzumhur Prediction
There’s not much to choose between these two players and at 7/5, Dzumhur looks like a tempting chance.
