Sebastian Baez v Tseng Chun-hsin Head to Head
They have never faced off at this level but did play a match on the Challengers circuit in 2020 where Chun-hsin won in three sets.
Baez Sends Navone Out
It took Sebastian Baez two hours and 10 minutes but he found a way to get past Mariano Navone in the second round.
In a gritty battle with his fellow Argentine, Baez came back from a shoddy second set showing in which he won just seven of his 22 first serve points, to clinch the quarterfinal berth 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.
Baez was broken five times in the match while there were a total of 15 opportunities he provided his opponent to get the better of his serve. On the other hand, he also broke Navone on five occasions but it was that crucial break in the sixth game of the decider that made all the difference.
This follows his straight-set win over Roman Andres Burruchaga in the first round after having begun the season with back to back opening round exits at the Auckland Open and Australian Open and a second round loss at Buenos Aires last week.

Chun-hsin Upsets Monteiro
It didn’t matter to Chun-hsin Tseng that he had barely scraped through to the main draw of the tournament with two successive three-set wins.
Nor did it matter to him that he was a 17/10 underdog going into his match against Thiago Monteiro, who was playing in front of his partisan home fans.
Or that he fell a set behind after losing the first in a tie-breaker.
Because Chun-hsin played a match of his career, stunning Monteiro in a tight, three-setter that went into a tie-breaker in the final set.
Chun-hsin, who has never been ranked better than 83rd in the world, was on court for a whopping three hours and 24 minutes before coming through and making it to an ATP quarterfinal for just the second time in his career.
Can he now make his maiden semis?
Baez v Chun-hsin Prediction
Baez can expect a fight here but we still think he has enough game in him to complete a straight set win. Tough sets but straight sets.
Baez v Chun-hsin Tips
- Baez to win in straight sets: 10/11
