Ugo Humbert v Jiri Lehecka Head to Head
Humbert and Lehecka have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Humbert Coming off Marseille Title
In what was his seventh career title, Ugo Humbert clinched the Marseille Open tournament for the second time in his career a week ago.
In doing so, he also propelled his win-loss record to 9-2 for the season and in turn will kick-start this new week ranked 15th in the world.
Humbert did opt to miss out on playing in the Qatar Open in the week following his title win in Marseille and it could have been to do with the gruelling schedule given he had played on Sunday in the final and would have had to feature for his first round encounter on Monday in Doha.
A week later, however, he has had the break he needed to jet across to Dubai and will begin his march towards trying to continue his winning run.
Earlier this season, Humbert had made the fourth round at the Australian Open with wins over Manuel Gigante, Hady Habib and Arthur Fils.

Lehecka Enters at Career-Best
Jiri Lehecka will enter this competition in Dubai following on from a solid showing in Doha last week where he defeated Carlos Alcaraz on his way to the semifinals. He had also gotten past Grigor Dimitrov in the first round there.
In doing so, Lehecka has become 22nd on the ATP Rankings which makes it his career best ranking and that’s how he will enter this new week – filled with confidence but with a tough first round opponent up against him.
It’s not as if he hasn’t beaten high-ranked opponents before this though.
Lehecka has already sent Alcaraz and Dimitrov packing this year, but even before that, he had defeated Holger Rune and Nicolas Jarry on his way to his title at Brisbane.
Can he deliver the goods against Humbert?
Humbert v Lehecka Prediction
Both players, Humbert and Lehecka have bee exhibiting some brilliant form all year and it’s a pity they are facing off in the first round instead of the quarterfinals or later. We think there’s not much to choose between the two but if the courts play slower, then Lehecka could have a better chance of winning.
Humbert v Lehecka Tips
- Lehecka to win: 6/5
