What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the ATP Chengdu Open?

Alexander Zverev, who had come into the 2023 Chengdu Open as the top seed, struggled through most part of the tournament but managed to come through and win the competition.

After a first round bye, Zverev was taken to three sets by Pavel Kotov in the second round, Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarterfinal and Roman Safiullin in the final. In fact the only player he overcame in straight sets was the third seeded Grigor Dimitrov.

Second seeded Lorenzo Musetti also made the semifinal but lost to Safiullin.

The previous time this competition was held was back in 2019 and Pablo Carreno Busta had grabbed the trophy. He opted not to take part in this competition.
