ATP Lyon Open Betting Tips, Picks, Predictions & Odds for the 2025 Edition

Get all the free ATP Lyon Open betting tips, predictions and picks along with their latest odds for the 2025 edition of the tournament which will be held in the third week of May this year.

The Lyon Open was first played in 2017 as a part of the ATP 250 series is hosted in the city of Lyon.

Played on clay, the ATP Lyon was brought in to replace the Nice Open, a tournament played between 1971 and 2016. Dominic Thiem was the winner of that tournament over the last two seasons in which it was played before the shift to Lyon.

Thiem would go on to win a title at Lyon too with the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Cameron Norrie, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Felix Auger-Aliassime having all participated in this tournament over the years.

In 2024, there are four ATP 250 tournaments held in France including this one in Lyon.

Lyon Open 2025 Tournament Preview

We are still some time away from the start of the Lyon Open in 2025. Below we have the preview to the 2024 edition of this tournament.

In what could turn out to be an interesting tournament given the kind of poor form that the seeded players carry into it, this could be one of those tournaments in which an unseeded player or one with supremely long odds goes on to win the title.

The top two seeds, Ugo Humbert and Alexander Bublik have won ATP titles before but never on clay. In fact neither player has even made the final of a clay court competition.

This problem can be seen for the third seeded Adrian Mannarino too, leaving the fourth seed Francisco Cerundolo as the highest-ranked player to have shown an aptitude on clay.

With one eye on the French Open next week, however, we could see a number of these top-ranked players fall away before reaching the semifinals or the final as they look to get a match or two of tune-up in.

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the Lyon Open?

In what turned out to be a surprise result, Frenchman and 20-year-old wildcard Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard triumphed in the Lyon Open to notch up his maiden ATP singles win. As a result of this victory, Mpetshi Perricard cruised into the top 70 of the ATP Rankings for the first time in his career.

Mpetshi Perricard clinched the title by defeating Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the final after needing to save a match-point in that encounter. He edged out his Argentinian opponent 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7).

This was after the top seeded Ugo Humbert was beaten in the very first round while Mpetshi Perricard upset the second seeded Alexander Bublik in the semifinals. Six of the top eight seeds crashed out before making the quarterfinals.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the Lyon Open?

In what turned out to be a surprise result, French wild-card Arthur Fils clinched the title after upsetting Argentinian player Francisco Cerundolo in the final. Fils won 6-3, 7-5 to lift the first ever ATP trophy of his career.

After the top seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime withdrew from his quarterfinal match against Fils, the Frenchman was involved in a keen tussle with Brandon Nakashima in the semifinal. Fils came through in a third set tie-breaker to set up a meeting with Cerundolo.

Cameron Norrie, who had entered the tournament as a defending champion, was routed by Cerundolo in the last four.
