One of the oldest tournaments in the world, the ATP Queen’s Club Championships is played in London and is currently known as the cinch Championships for sponsorship reasons.

The ATP Queen’s Club Championships was first played in 1881 and other than the two wars, 1968 and 2020, it has been held every year, making it a whopping 124 editions of the tournament so far. The 2025 season will be its 126th.

It’s played under the ATP 500 banner and is played in the lead-up to Wimbledon as one of the six grass court competitions held as a tune-up tournament to the season’s third Grand Slam.

The likes of John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Stefan Edberg, Boris Becker, Pete Sampras, Andy Roddick, Lleyton Hewitt, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Carlos Alcaraz have all won a title here. As in 2024, Murray’s five titles is the most any player has won here.

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the ATP Queen’s Club Championships?

Fifth seeded Tommy Paul went on to win the 2024 edition of ATP Queen’s Club Championships when he defeated unseeded Lorenzo Musetti in the final. Paul won 6-1, 7-6 (8) to grab his third tournament victory at this level.

What was surprising to see was that defending champion and top seed Carlos Alcaraz was knocked out in the very second round to Jack Draper. Draper was edged out by Paul in the quarterfinals.

Incidentally, also losing in the first round was the second seed Alex de Minaur, who went down to Musetti. Musetti went on to beat Brandon Nakashima, Billy Harris and Jordan Thompson in the next three matches to make the final.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the ATP Queen’s Club Championships?

Carlos Alcaraz won his first ever title at the ATP Queen’s when he defeated Alex de Minaur 6-4, 6-4 in the final.

Having started off as the top seed in the competition, Alcaraz was taken to three sets by lucky loser Arthur Rinderknech in the first round but from that point onward it was all one-way traffic in his favour.

He overcame Jiri Lehecka 6-2, 6-3 in the second round, beat Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals before easing past Sebastian Korda 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals.

Second seeded Holger Rune made the semifinals where he was beaten in straight sets by de Minaur. De Minaur had earlier sent the five-time winner Andy Murray packing in the very first round.
