Played as an indoor hardcourt competition as a part of the ATP 250 series of tournaments, the Stockholm Open will continue to be held in 2024. It was first played way back in 1969 and since then has been played every year with the exception of 2020 when it was cancelled because of the pandemic.
One of the early winners of the Stockholm Open was Arthur Ashe and over the years, the likes of John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Stefan Edberg, Roger Federer and Juan Martin Del Potro have all won at least one title here.
Held as a carpet event for a few years, it shifted to indoor hardcourt tournament in 1995 which is how it’s contested at the moment.
In 2025, it will be held in the same week as the Almaty Open and the Antwerp Open.

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the ATP Stockholm Open?
Tommy Paul did not drop a single set on his way to winning the title at the 2024 Stockholm Open.
Having won the Dallas Open and the Queen’s title in 2024 itself, Paul added a third for the season – and fourth of his career having also won in Stockholm in 2021 – by defeating the third seeded Grigor Dimitrov in the final. Paul won 6-4, 6-3.
This was after Stan Wawrinka had bundled the top seeded Andrey Rublev out of the competition in the quarterfinals while Tallon Griekspoor made it past the second seeded Casper Ruud at the same stage of the competition.
What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the ATP Stockholm Open?
Gael Monfils, who had also won the Stockholm Open in 2011, went on to make it his second title here after a gap of 12 years when he beat Pavel Kotov in a hard-fought final. In a match that went over two hours, Monfils captured the victory 4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3.
This was after none of the seeded players made the semifinals of the tournament while only two of them, Adrian Mannarino and Tallon Griekspoor, even made the quarterfinals.
Defending champion and the top seeded Holger Rune was sent packing in the second round by Miomir Kecmanovic after getting an opening round bye while the fourth seeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina withdrew from the tournament after the draw was out.
