Geneva Open betting tips and predictions

Get all the free ATP Barcelona Open betting tips, predictions and picks along with their latest odds for the 2025 edition of the tournament which will be held in the third week of April this year.

Called the Banc Sabadell Barcelona Open for sponsorship reasons, this clay court competition is a part of the ATP 500 series of tournaments played this season.

First hosted in 1953 as a men’s and women’s tennis competition, it went solo for men’s tennis in 1980. Earlier it was played as a 56-man draw but from 2013, that changed to 48 players of which the top 16 get a direct entry into the second round.

With Rafael Nadal having won this title 12 times, it’s no surprise that the Barcelona Open has attracted a lot of other top players and fans look out for it with bated breath despite it not being either a Masters 1000 or a Grand Slam competition.

Barcelona Open 2025 Tournament Preview

We will update the preview to the 2025 Barcelona Open closer to the start of the competition. Below is the previous to the previous edition of this competition.

With Carlos Alcaraz having opted out of the tournament after failing to recover from his fitness concerns that had seen him miss the Monte-Carlo Masters the previous week, all eyes will be on Rafael Nadal, who is looking to make a comeback in this competition.

Nostalgic reasons aside, Nadal’s performance in this tournament could be an indicator of his preparedness for the French Open later next month which is said to be a swansong for the Spaniard.

That being said, on a more realistic note, the onus will be on Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud to make it to the final for the second week running. Tsitsipas, who had entered the Monte-Carlo Masters last week without any form behind his back, went on to lift the title there by beating Ruud in the final.

What was also fascinating to note about Ruud’s path to the final was that it consisted of wins over Hubert Hurkacz and Novak Djokovic, making him a dangerous player on clay.

Another player to watch out is Andrey Rublev who is on a three-match losing streak and would want to turn things around before the season’s second Grand Slam.

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the Barcelona Open?

In a repeat of the final held at the Monte-Carlo Masters only two weeks ago, Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas went head to head in the final again. This time around though, it was Casper Ruud who won the title by defeating Tsitsipas in straight sets.

Ruud won 7-5, 6-3 to grab his maiden ATP 500 title, having earlier clinched 10 titles as a part of the ATP 250 series.

In the absence of Carlos Alcaraz, who was the top seed but withdrew from the tournament because of fitness issues, Novak Djokovic who opted not to play and with Rafael Nadal’s ongoing injury issues, it was left to the two in-form players to contest the final.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the Barcelona Open?

Having come into the 2023 edition of the Barcelona Open as the defending champion, Carlos Alcaraz successfully made it two titles in a row by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.

Alcaraz crashed Tsitipas’ party by overcoming the Greek number one 6-3, 6-4 in the final. He did not drop a single set in the entire tournament.

Having earned an opening round bye like all the other seeded players, the Spaniard sent out Nuno Borges, Roberto Bautista Agut, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Dan Evans in successive rounds to make it to the final.

Tsitsipas had gone into the tournament as the second seed and was tested by only Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinal before falling to Alcaraz in the final.

Third seeded Casper Ruud fell to Francisco Cerundolo in the third round while Jannik Sinner withdrew from the tournament before his quarterfinal match against Musetti because of an ongoing illness.
