Canadian Open Betting Tips, Picks, Predictions & Odds for the 2025 Edition

Get all the free ATP and WTA Canadian Open betting tips, predictions and picks along with their latest odds for the 2025 edition of the tournament, a men’s and women’s hardcourt competition played as one of the early tune-up ones to the US Open.

The Canadian Open is one of the few tournaments in the world which has a simultaneous competition for both, the men’s and women’s draws. What’s interesting to note about the Canadian Open or the National Bank Open presented by Rogers – as it’s also called – is that both the ATP and WTA tournaments are played in the same week but in different cities.

Montreal and Toronto host this tournament alternately for men and women’s competitions. The 2025 edition will be held in Toronto for men and Montreal for women.

Part of the ATP 1000 and WTA 1000 series of competitions, the Canadian Open first began in 1881, making it the oldest tournament in the history of tennis after Wimbledon. It’s was earlier played on clay but the surface was later changed to hardcourt competitions.

While this tournament was played as a week-long one in 2024, it will go down the route of the Indian Wells Open and Miami Open from 2025 by getting played over two weeks and with 96 main draw singles players.

Venue

As mentioned earlier, the Canadian Open is hosted across two different cities in Canada. Toronto and Montreal host the men’s and women’s Canadian Open alternatively with the 2025 edition ATP event held in Toronto and the WTA competition in Montreal.

The IGA Stadium in Montreal is where the competition is played and it has a capacity of nearly 12,000. In Toronto, the Canadian Open is held at Sobeys Stadium which was earlier called the Aviva Centre and Rexall Centre. Again, over 12,000 fans can be accommodated at this venue.

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the Canadian Open?

The men’s singles winner proved to be a stunner. While Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz were absent from the competition, it still proved to be a surprise when Australia’s Alexei Popyrin rode out a 6-2, 6-4 win over Andrey Rublev to grab the title.

Popyrin was ranked 62nd in the world at that time and became the first from his country in 21 years to grab a Masters 1000 title.

Facing five successive top-20 players including Ben Shelton, Grigor Dimitrov, Hubert Hurkacz and Sebastian Korda, Popyrin won them all after needing to save match-points in them.

It was his third career title after wins at the Singapore Open in 2021 and Croatia Open in 2023.

Defending champion and the top seed Jannik Sinner was ousted by Rublev at the quarterfinal stage of the competition.

Jessica Pegula successfully defended her title in the women’s singles competition as she defeated fellow American Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.

In clinching her sixth WTA title – a list that includes Washington Open 2019, Guadalajara Open 2022, Korea Open 2023 and Berlin Ladies Open earlier in the year, other than the 2023 Canadian Open too – Pegula climbed up three spots to make it back to the sixth on the WTA Rankings.

It was also a good tournament for the American women players as five of them made the quarterfinals with Emma Navvaro, Peyton Stearns and Taylor Townsend being the others.

Top seeded Cori Gauff was beaten in the third round by Diana Shnaider while the second seeded Aryna Sabalenka lost to Anisimova in the quarterfinals stage.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the Canadian Open?

Jannik Sinner began his run to the Australian Open title in 2024 with his first ever Masters 1000 victory at the 2023 Canadian Open. Sinner overcame Alex de Minaur in the final 6-4, 6-1 to lift the title.

Having started off as the seventh seed in the tournament, Sinner did not break into much of a sweat till he reached the quarterfinal where he was taken to three sets by Gael Monfils. Another straight-set win over Tommy Paul followed soon after that, with the American having earlier dumped out the top seeded Carlos Alcaraz.

Novak Djokovic was missing from the tournament and as was the defending champion Pablo Carreno Busta.

In the women’s section of the draw, Jessica Pegula took advantage of an exhausted Liudmilla Samsonova to beat her in the final and win the trophy.

Pegula dropped just one game in the final after Samsonova was forced to play four matches in a span of 30 hours or so because of raining conditions.

Earlier, Pegula had stunned Iga Swiatek while Samsonova edged out Elena Rybakina in the semifinals to set up the title-decider meeting.
