Madison Keys and Mirra Andreeva bit the dust while Emma Raducanu and Iga Swiatek advanced to the fourth round on Sunday, March 23 at the 2025 Miami Open.

Raducanu led McCartney Kessler 6-1, 3-0 in their third round encounter before her American opponent retired from the match because of injury.

It took Raducanu just 30 minutes to run through the opening set and was a break up in the second when Kessler suffered a back injury, forcing her to throw in the towel.

Raducanu will now face another American Amanda Anisimova for a place in the quarterfinal. Anisimova was one of the shock winners of the day as she edged past the Indian Wells Open winner Mirra Andreeva.

Andreeva was on a 13-match winning streak but was suffering from a stomach pain that caused her breathing issues heading into the encounter. The match went into a third set before Anisimova prevailed in what turned out to be a controversial, medical timeout-involving encounter, winning 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-3.

There was another upset on the day as the Australian Open winner Madison Keys fell 6-4, 6-2 to Philippines wildcard Alexandra Eala.

A former US Open girls champion, Eala had already overcome Jelena Ostapenko in a previous match, did not waste too much overcoming Keys to reach the fourth round where she will face Paula Badosa. Badosa had defeated Clara Tauson in their third round encounter.

Iga Swiatek also did not have a lot of problem overcoming Elise Mertens and she now faces Elina Svitolina who defeated Karolina Muchova 6-2, 3-6, 6-2

Other WTA Miami Open Day 7 Results:

  • Kostyuk d Blinkova 6-2, 6-1
  • Badosa d Tauson 6-3, 7-6 (3)
  • Svitolina d Muchova 6-2, 3-6, 6-2
  • Swiatek d Mertens 7-6 (2), 6-1
  • Raducanu d Kessler 6-1, 3-0 (retired)
  • Anisimova d Andreeva 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-3
  • Pegula d Kalinskaya 6-7 (3), 6-2, 7-6 (3)
  • Eala d Keys 6-4, 6-2
