Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud were among the top players to advance to the fourth round at the 2025 Miami Open on Sunday, March 23. Among those crashing out in surprise results were Stefanos Tsitsipas and Tommy Paul.
Djokovic, who had entered the tournament on the back of three losses in a row for the first time in his career since 2017, defeated Camilo Ugo Carabelli in straight sets to seal off his 411th win in Masters 1000 competitions.
In doing so, Djokovid added another record to his name as he usurped Rafael Nadal for most ATP Masters 1000 wins in a career. He was put to the sword in the second set by his Argentine opponent but came through 6-1, 7-6 (4) to progress to the fourth round.
Also winning his third round match in straight sets was the fifth seeded Casper Ruud. Ruud overcame Alejandro Tabilo 6-4, 7-6 (4).
In a shock result on Sunday, Sebastian Korda needed an hour and 35 minutes to overcome the ninth seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas. He won 7-6, 6-3. It was his first win over a top-10 player this season and it came despite Korda allowing Tsitsipas to come back from being 3-5 down in the opening set.
A former quarterfinalist at this competition, Korda will now take on Gael Monfils in the fourth round with the Frenchman having gotten past Jaume Munar in his match.
Also winning on the day was Grigor Dimitrov was forced into a hard-fought three-setter before he came through 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-5 against Karen Khachanov.
American Tommy Paul was expected to make it through to the next stage but was felled by Francisco Cerundolo in a match that failed to rise to the expectations of the home crowd. Cerundolo won 6-2, 7-6 (4).
