Novak Djokovic practiced for 50 minutes with Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon and as a result has allowed himself to be named as one of the seeded players in the competition.
Having scraped through to the quarterfinal in an injury-hit previous round encounter against Francisco Cerundolo at the French Open 2024, Djokovic opted out of his match against Holger Rune. It was revealed that Djokovic had suffered a torn medial meniscus and needed surgery to recover from the same.
While a Djokovic victory at Wimbledon 2024 has lengthened to 9/2 after being 4/1 immediately after suffering that brutal injury, there is good news coming from the Serbian’s camp.
He has been named the second seed at The Championships and based on how things have looked since his surgery, it looks like he is all but certain to take to court for his opening round match next week.
Djokovic had earlier this week noted he was yet to decide on his participation at Wimbledon with the Olympics gold on his mind as well. However, he said after his Centre Court practice session with Jannik Sinner on Thursday that he was feeling good.
He still remains a third favourite to win the men’s singles a record eighth time though, behind Sinner (9/5) and Carlos Alcaraz (23/10).
