Sebastian Korda v Miomir Kecmanovic Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the 2022 Miami Masters where Kecmanovic won in straight sets.
Korda Gets Kokkinakis Walkover
Thanasi Kokkinakis would have been a difficult opponent for Korda in the quarterfinals but a possible shoulder injury forced the Aussie into withdrawing from the tournament. This gave Korda a free passage to the semis.
Having withdrawn from his first tournament in Brisbane the previous week and getting an opening bye here, Sebastian Korda finally took to court in the second round here.
And it seemed like that for that reason alone, Korda had started off a second favourite in the match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Which is why, when Korda eased to a 6-3, 6-3 victory in this Fokina encounter, it would have come as a huge relief for the world number 22.
A finalist in 2023, Korda would now hope to make it through to that stage yet again.
Kecmanovic Eases Past Bonzi
For the third match in a row, Miomir Kecmanovic wasn’t tested too much and made the semifinal with a straight-set win over Benjamin Bonzi.
After having surprised Alexander Bublik in the first round and eased past Christopher O’Connell in the second, Kecmanovic was a 4/6 favourite going into his quarterfinal against Bonzi.
And he lived up to those odds with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in a mere 65 minutes.
The world number 55 slammed 12 aces and saved the only break-point he faced in the encounter to ease to his first ATP semifinal since the 2023 Stockholm Open.
Can he now make it to his first final since the 2023 Estoril Open?
Korda v Kecmanovic Prediction
The only question here is if Korda, like any other top player with an eye at the Australian Open, would be fully focussed on this match and given how he has gone in this very tournament every year we would like to believe so. Backing a straight-set win for Korda here.
Korda v Kecmanovic Tips
- Korda to win: 3/5
- Korda to win in straight sets: 6/4
