Aryna Sabalenka v Mirra Andreeva Head to Head
There have been four previous meetings between these two players and Sabalenka leads 3-1 on head to head. This includes a win for Sabalenka which came as recently as two weeks ago at the Brisbane International where they met in the semifinals.
Andreeva had earlier upset Sabalenka at the 2024 French Open.
Sabalenka Stretched by Tauson
In what was her eighth straight win of the season, Aryna Sabalenka registered a straight-set victory over Clara Tauson in the third round of the competition.
And while she did not drop a set, like has been the case all tournament, Sabalenka was forced to be on court for two hours and eight minutes before she clinched the win.
In what was a bizarre start to the match, neither player held on to their serves in the first seven games of the encounter. Tauson, in fact, went 5-3 up by holding it in the eighth but failed to serve it out and then had to save four set-points in the 10th to take it to a tie-breaker.
Sabalenka got one set-point and converted it there to win the opening set. While Sabalenka lost her serve one more time in the second set, she wasn’t tested too much other than that and bagged the win soon after.
With just one set lost in the entire season so far, Sabalenka is fast building a bit of a run in 2025 that’s making her more and more unshakeable. Can Mirra do something different here?
Andreeva Needs Three against Frech
Magdalena Frech caused a bit of a surprise by reaching the third round but things looked to be heading to script when the 1/5 favourite Mirra Andreeva won the opening set in a jiffy.
In a mere 39 minutes, and without too many issues faced, Andreeva had taken a set to love lead in their encounter.
Frech required a minute lesser to level the proceedings, breaking Mirra on three occasions in the second set, leaving her opponent stunned.
Back to back breaks of serves in the decider left the players levelled up at 2-2 but from that point onward Andreeva took full control to win the next four games in a row.
Earlier, even Moyuka Uchijima had taken Andreeva to a third set tie-breaker following the Russian’s win over Marie Bouzkova in the first.
Sabalenka v Andreeva Prediction
While Andreeva is a highly talented player, her record against Sabalenka in hardcourt competitions isn’t much to behold. There’s also a case of a psychological edge that Sabalenka currently has over Andreeva and we believe we could see another straight-set win for Sabalenka here.
