Iga Swiatek v Emma Navarro Head to Head

Swiatek and Navarro are both 24 years old, with the Polish number one being younger by a mere 13 days to the American player.

Despite being peers, they have never faced off at the WTA level before and the only match they did play was on the ITF circuit where Swiatek had won in straight sets on clay.

Swiatek’s Stunning Form Continues against Lys

Iga Swiatek had lost seven games in her first round win over Katerina Siniakova. Since then, she has played three more rounds and a dropped a total of four more games in the entire competition.

This included a 6-0, 6-2 win over Rebecca Sramkova and a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Emma Raducanu in the second and third round.

And in the third round, Swiatek ended Eva Lys’ fairy-tale stay in the competition in a similar vein – winning 6-1, 6-0. In a match that lasted a total of one hour, Swiatek faced a mere two break-points in the entire match while getting the better of her opponent’s serve on five occasions.

Swiatek lost a mere nine points on her own serve and 20 points off Lys’ first ever itself in her winning run.

This made it a win-loss record of 8-1 for the season for Swiatek who will be itching to overturn some of her underwhelming form from the past season and the loss to Cori Gauff at the United Cup earlier this year.

Navarro Scrapes Past Kasatkina

The bookmakers got this one right.

Both players, Emma Navarro and Daria Kasatkina had gone into their fourth round encounter with odds of 10/11 associated with their win – essentially implying there were no real favourites in the match – and the match topsy-turvy-ied to a photo-finish.

In the end it took two hours and 43 minutes to decide the winner which was Navarro, who saved two break-points at 5-5 in the final set before earning – and converting – her first match-point in the very next game.

What was interesting to see is that while Navarro won about 52% of the points on her own serve, Kasatkina was unable to match up to even that figure, ending on 48% of them – and that’s where the match turned on its head.

Even more interestingly, the contrast in Navarro and Swiatek couldn’t be starker what with the American having needed a three-setter in each of the four matches she has played so far.

Can she put up any kind of a fight against Swiatek?

Swiatek v Navarro Prediction

There’s no doubting who the favourite is here, with Swiatek starting out a 1/10 here. We could see a straight-set win yet again too but in this one, Navarro can be expected to give Swiatek a bigger fight than her previous three opponents. Probably a good one to go with the games market.

Swiatek v Navarro Tips

  • Over 16.5 games in the match: 2/5
  • Swiatek to win in straight sets: 4/11
