Cori Gauff v Moyuka Uchijima Head to Head
Gauff and Uchijima have never faced off before this.
Gauff on a Three-Match Losing Streak
It’s not often you see Cori Gauff enter a tournament on the back of three successive losses.
In fact the last time the world number three was unable to win those many in a row was way back in 2022 when Gauff ended the season with a defeat at the Guadalajara Open, three more losses in the WTA Finals and another one at the Fed Cup.
Which is why a quarterfinal loss at the Australian Open this season might not have been the biggest upset of the season but for that to be followed by opening losses in Doha and Dubai would surely be a surprise.
While that might not be a cause of concern yet, it could be raising a lot of eyebrows as Gauff enters a tournament in which she was a semifinalist last year.
She will be a huge favourite to stall her streak here.

Uchijima Sends Raducanu Packing
Moyuka Uchijima had entered her first round match against Emma Raducanu as a distant 2/1 underdog but took advantage of her opponent’s on and off court struggles.
Playing in her first match since the stalking incident, Raducanu wasn’t at her best and that was made worse by the difficult windy conditions in Indian Wells.
So while Uchijima fell 0-2 behind in the first set, she went on to win the next four games. She dropped her serve yet again to bring parity into the set only to break Raducanu at 3-4. Very soon Uchijima had served out the set.
In the second, things became even easier for Uchijima as she used her power to break Raducanu twice and win it 6-3, 6-2.
This will be Uchijima’s third appearance in the second round of a tournament this year, having played in nine competitions. Things won’t be as easy against Gauff though.
Gauff v Uchijima Predictions
Gauff will be a heavy favourite here to break her losing streak and we can expect her to do that in two sets.
Gauff v Uchijima Tips
- Gauff to win in straight sets: 1/3
